We have a superior revelation in the Word of God; and a superior faith - a certainty.
We have faith in God’s word: as we dig deeper, it is like jewels that begin to shine brighter; and also faith in His character.
FAITH has TWIN ANCHORS: the PAST, the life, death and resurrection of Jesus, and therefore ‘there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ’; and also the FUTURE, that Jesus will return.
Two ways to live v6: the way of the righteous - the way of God; the way of the wicked - our way
The way of the wicked v4-6, ultimately shut out from the Lord
The way of the righteous v1-3 - blessed; lifestyle, identification, sitting with; -what we do - delights in the law; prospers
The way of Jesus - the only person who achieved the way of the Righteous v1-3, we can be made blameless as we surrender to Jesus, and allow the Holy Spirit to dwell in us.
Rooted and ready to go.
Standing firm - living at peace with God, ourselves and others.
Going forward - spreading God’s Word, the Gospel of Peace.
The Sprit leads God’s children
The Spirit leads us gently
How the Spirit leads us
Results of being led by the Spirit . a) a Spiritual outlook. b) A love of the Truth. c) A love for God’s people. d) A desire to be like Jesus. e) An assurance of being a child of God.
What is righteousness. 2. Why do we need righteousness. 3. The accusations of Satan - from ourselves, from others, from our circumstances 4. standing firm in the truth
Our obligation in life: a) is not to the flesh. b) but is to the Spirit.
How to put sin to death: a) get help from the spirit. b). be real, don’t pretend. c) remember that even the good times were bad. d) be thankful. e) fill your mind with the things of God. f) Live before the cross of Christ.
God is partially revealed in creation. 2. God is fully revealed in His Word. 3. Our response: ‘my Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer’
Who is our enemy?
What is our enemy’s objective?
Where is the battle fought?
Our action - Put on the full armour of God
We are all ‘beaten up’ through our sin - Jesus offers to rescue each one of us.
If the Spirit of God is in you:
a) you are set free from the law of sin and death
b). you set your mind on the Spirit’s desires
c) your mind is governed by life and peace
d) you are a friend of God
Be sure of the victory through Jesus Christ
Are we Mr Angry, Mr Fearful or Mr Jelly as we react to the changing world around us?
We need to remember that we are: 1. Chosen by God ie we belong to God the Father, we are indwelt/sanctified by God the Holy Spirit and we are cleansed by the Son . 2. We are exiles and will never belong to this world. But we are to stand firm with His grace.
The Centurion knew that he was unworthy compared to Jesus.
The ‘sinful woman’ knew that she was unworthy
W.e are all unworthy, and need forgiveness of our sins.
