Prison Outreach

"...when I was in prison you came and visited me" Matthew 25:36

A team from Hook regularly visits one of the local jails to lead Sunday morning services in the chapel and share the good news of Jesus with the inmates there.

We go with Prison Outreach Network an inter-church organisation who visit many prisons up and down the country.  We pray that God may see fit to change the lives of the men who we speak to and that through knowing Him they may lead lives that are pleasing in the sight of God.

One of our team gives this testimony to the power of God's good news.

"One conversation that has stayed with me for some time followed a message about the prodigal son and the ugly attitude of the older brother towards his wayward sibling. After the service a 23 year old man who had been in prison six times talked about his imminent release. A former heroin and crack addict he had found hope in Jesus, he was keen to succeed and worried about failing we shared King David's experience and read Psalm 51 together "Create in me a pure new heart, O God and renew a steadfast spirit within me." I pray that this man and others like him will be changed on the inside and that they may persevere in their walk with Jesus."
