Small Groups

We believe in a rhythm to church life. The rhythm, simply put, is: out onto the frontline, withdraw behind the frontline.

The frontline is the place where we share the gospel and seek to be a blessing to people as Christ's ambassadors. For some people the frontline is their place of work, for others its their family, for still others its school or uni, or community groups. The frontline is where we are most of the time. We spend hours and hours and hours on our frontline.

The frontline is a place where people get wounded. It's also a place of advance. There are both hurts and joys on the frontline. We need to share the joys and be healed from our hurts. This is why we withdraw behind the frontline into our small groups. In our small groups we share with one another about our time on the frontline; we pray for each other; we build each other up through Bible Study; we refresh each other so as to go back to the frontline once again.

Small Group Questions for Wednesday 16th May

In our small groups tonight we are going to discuss specific ways we can proclaim the gospel on our frontline using Sunday morning’s sermon as a basis.

Read Colossians 1: 15-23

  1. Why do you think there is so much unbelief in our nation today? What can we do about it?

  2. “Evil behaviour” comes from being alienated from God. Suggesting people’s behaviour is evil is NOT popular. How can we explain this important truth in a sensitive and wise way?

  3. How can we explain the need to be reconciled to God? What illustrations or examples might help people to understand this concept?

  4. How can we explain the truth of being “presented holy in his sight” without coming across as arrogant?

  5. What is the difference between persevering in our faith and legalism? What does a persevering lifestyle look like?

  6. Share one way you plan to serve the gospel tomorrow. Pray for one another specifically that God would help you do this.
